A reception was given at the Home for Cooperation in the buffer zone on Thursday on the occasion of the completion of the “2021 UN Youth Champion for Environment and Peace” program held by the UN Mission in Cyprus via British Council COOPower Project and the September 21 International Peace Day.
Speaking at the reception held with a motto “let’s build a greener future”, the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative in Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar congratulated the youngsters who completed the two week long busy program.
Touching upon the Cyprus issue, she noted that contributions of all citizens were needed for reaching a sustainable solution to the Cyprus problem adding that important tasks fell to youngsters on this issue.
“We are expecting wonderful things from the leaders however the leaders also need help. We believe that you can contribute to leaders’ efforts to find a lasting solution to the ongoing Cyprus issue. There is a need for all citizens to work together in order to reach a sustainable solution and we believe that youngsters have a very important role” Spehar said.
The co-chairs of the bicommunal Technical Committee on Environment were also present at the event.
