Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu issued a statement regarding the Russian attack on Ukraine.

“We, like the rest of the world, are following the military operation of the Russian Federation’s Armed Forces in Ukraine with concern. Humanity, the world and the TRNC have entered a critical period. While we were already feeling the global economic crisis caused by the Covid pandemic, this war will also have negative effects on our economy,” Sucuoğlu said.

“First of all, we hope that the Russia-Ukraine War will end through peaceful resolutions and diplomacy as soon as possible. Nothing can explain the death of people, children from bombs and bullets,” the premier stressed.

Sucuoğlu said that they were monitoring developments closely and supporting the intense diplomatic efforts being carried out by Turkiye.

He added that the conflict in Ukraine once again demonstrated that the world is a place where force and strength prevails over justice.

“That is why the continuation of our motherland Turkiye’s guarantees is crucial for the Turkish Cypriot people,” Sucuoğlu noted.
