Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu pointed to the importance of protecting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and underlined that a two equal state sovereign policy, is the new route of the TRNC in the period ahead.

Sucuoğlu was speaking during a visit paid to him by the Istanbul Mukhtars Federation, who came to the country to participate in the anniversary celebrations for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Prime Minister Sucuoğlu also announced that routine meetings will be held with the mukhtars in the coming weeks.

Touching upon the Republic Day celebrations, Sucuoğlu said it wasn’t easy for the Turkish Cypriot people to get to where they are today.

Touching upon the Cyprus issue, Sucuoğlu stated that the Greek Cypriot side had managed to get recognized by the world and become a member of the EU.

Emphasizing that a new era has started with the written presentation of the two sovereign equal state policy in the international arena and at the UN meetings, Sucuoğlu said, “South Cyprus’s distress on this issue shows that we are on the right track”.

Noting that there is real ownership of the Republic, Sucuoğlu said, “We have always had it, but a general state policy and the determination of the Republic of Turkey in this direction gives us even more strength. Our President is also taking steps in this direction.”
