The Minister of Labour and Social Security Hasan Taçoy on Monday defended the changes made in the cabinet by Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu, stating that it was up to the premier to decide who to appoint or remove from a ministerial post.

“Our tradition never changes. You don’t ask for a post, you are given one,” Taçoy said as he spoke to BRT.

The labour minister also highlighted the importance of transparency and said that the government will be working to serve the public.

He added that the world was currently struggling with economic crisis caused by the pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine.

“Naturally the public is justified in its reaction to rising prices. We will do all we can to mitigate the impact of these conditions but the public must also know that this is something which is effecting the whole world, not just the TRNC,” Taçoy added.

Highlighting the importance of lowering unemployment figures, the Minister of Labour and Social Security said that steps will be taken to create more jobs and to address this issue.

Taçoy also said that they will be updating the state support provided to private businesses to increase local employment.
