The new economic relief package was discussed in detail earlier this week with discussions focusing on what to do in the short, medium and long term.

The meeting touched upon issues such as subsidies, the cost-of-living and the minimum wage.

The Minister of Labour and Social Security Hasan Taçoy told BRT on Thursday that work was underway on announcing a new economic package to support various economic sectors in the country.

He said that a meeting held earlier this week had focused on issues such as loans to support various sectors and businesses, raising the minimum wage and other possible ways of reducing the rise in the cost of living.

Taçoy said that the government was planning to raise the cost of living to ₺8000-8500 and to increase cuts on higher earning public servants so as to reflect it onto the salaries of lower earning public sector employees.

He added that the cost-of-living will be discussed at a cabinet meeting to be held on Saturday.
