President Ersin Tatar attended a conference entitled “the Struggle for Existence of Turks in Cyprus” held at the Osmaniye Korkut Ata University on Wednesday.
Providing information about the history of Cyprus at the conference, Tatar stressed that there will no longer be a policy based on a federation in Cyprus adding that an agreement can only be possible between two separate states.
President Ersin Tatar stressed that the ties between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are national and sacred adding and that no power will be enough to break these important ties.
Stating that they never lost hope in Türkiye, Tatar noted that the Turkish soldiers and mujahids fought together in the Cyprus Peace Operation, in which the Cypriot people were liberated.
Reminding that a new era started on the Island in July 1974, Tatar stressed that they continue to wave both the Turkish flag and the TRNC flag as a representative of the Turkish world in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Pointing out that they know well what the national struggle means in Cyprus, he stated that they represent the rights, law and national interests in the best way in cooperation with motherland Türkiye in the Eastern Mediterranean.
“The ties between us are national and sacred. Therefore, no power will be enough to break such important ties. Our roots, our history and our hearts are one” the President said.
Highlighting the importance of the Peace Operation, Tatar said “The protection of our rights and interests in the Blue Homeland and in our airspace is very important for our nation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Mediterranean.”
Noting that the policy put forward by the Turkish Cypriot side was based on sovereign equality, he said “we sincerely share this with the world”
“We say ‘we have the Republic of Türkiye behind us’. The Cyprus issue is a joint cause. It is the cause of the nation.” President Tatar added.
Meanwhile, President Tatar returned to the republic on Wednesday night after completing his contacts in Mersin and Osmaniye.
