President Ersin Tatar and Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre received delegations that were in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to take part in Republic Day celebrations.
During the visits both Tatar and Töre emphasized the importance of Türkiye’s support to the TRNC.
President Ersin Tatar received on Wednesday the Good Party (İyi Party) Parliamentary Group Chairman İsmail Tatlıoğlu, Deputy Chairman of the Felicity Party (Saadet Party) and Head of Foreign Relations Mustafa Kaya, DSP leader Önder Aksakal, delegations from Türkiye’s War Veterans Association, National Defence University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Talat Canbolat and commanders of the Air War Institute, Land War Institute and the Naval War Institute separately.
Speaking during the visits, President Tatar stated that the new politics created with the support of Türkiye should be embraced as a nation in order for it to be successful.
Noting that being unanimously admitted into the Organization of Turkic States as an observer country was a historic step; Tatar stated that everyone now sees that there are two separate peoples and two separate states in Cyprus.
“The TRNC is ours and the Republic of Türkiye’s success story,” said Tatar.
President Tatar also stated that Turkish troops will remain on the island and that Türkiye’s guarantees will continue, adding that the TRNC will achieve progress on its road to recognition.
Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre also met with the Good Party Parliamentary Group Chairman İsmail Tatlıoğlu, deputy chairman of the Felicity Party and the head of Foreign Affairs Mustafa Kaya, DSP leader Önder Aksakal, as well as with a delegation from Türkiye’s All Service Workers Union headed by Necati Oruç.
Speaking here the parliamentary speaker said that he found such visits to be very meaningful as it gave morale and strength to them.
Töre also drew attention to the importance of the TRNC being accepted as an observer member to the Organization of Turkic States, following the call for recognition made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
