President Ersin Tatar on Wednesday highlighted the importance of Turkey’s support for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Tatar was speaking during a reception hosted by the Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce to mark the 98th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey.
Expressing his gratitude to motherland Turkey, President Tatar said that they were raising future generations with love for their freedom, nation, homeland and flag.
He criticized members of the opposition who wanted to create a partnership with the Greek Cypriots.
“Those pro-European, pro-federation supporters still want to create a partnership with the Greek Cypriots. Such a partnership means coming under the yoke of the Greek Cypriots, becoming a minority and forcing Turkish troops out of Cyprus with the excuse of being an EU state,” he said, stating that this was out of the question.
He added that Turkey fully supported the Turkish Cypriot side’s position in favour of a two-state solution.
Underlining the importance of developing relations with Turkey, Tatar said that national interests will be protected as part of the Blue Homeland doctrine.
President Ersin Tatar also called on investors in Gaziantep to develop relations with the TRNC and to invest in the country.
