President Ersin Tatar is continuing his contacts in Mersin and Osmaniye.
As part of his contacts, President Tatar visited the Yeşilovacık Martyrs Park and the “Ersin Tatar Park” which was opened by the Mersin Erdemli Municipality.
During his visits, Tatar touched upon the drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Cyprus issue.
President Ersin Tatar who delivered a speech during his visit to the Yeşilovacık Martyrs Park reminded that paratroopers flew to Cyprus from Yeşilovacık with helicopters on the 20th of July 1974.
Tatar noted that since that day when the Turkish soldiers and the mujahids met, the Turkish Cypriot People has been living in freedom and independence.
Stressing that the Cyprus case was a national cause, the President by drawing attention to his new policy emphasized that an agreement can be reached in Cyprus on the basis of sovereign equality and with the cooperation of two co-existing states.
Tatar emphasized that similar plans continue in the Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus, however added that they did not and will not bow to these plans.
Stating that he visited the Abdülhamid Han drilling ship, the President stressed that the ship was important for drilling activities in the Turkish maritime jurisdiction.
Within the framework of his contacts, President Ersin Tatar also visited the “Ersin Tatar Park” opened by the Mersin Erdemli Municipality.
Meanwhile, the inauguration ceremony of the park, which was named after Tatar, could not be held due to a martyr’s funeral in Mersin.
During his visit to the park, Tatar talked about his close relations with Türkiye and said “we have special ties here.”
The President also stressed the significance of such visits.
Stating that he was there for the opening of the park but this could not be realized due to the martyr’s funeral, President Tatar expressed his condolences to the martyr’s family and the nation.
Tatar stressed that it was very important to work together and in cooperation with Türkiye in the Eastern Mediterranean and in the Blue Homeland to maintain the effectiveness and presence in the fields of rights, law, changing conjuncture and maritime jurisdiction.
