President Ersin Tatar on Tuesday said that he was pleased to see that the local elections had passed peacefully and in an atmosphere of democratic maturity.

“Our common goal is for the municipalities to answer to the public’s needs and expectations,” he said, evaluating the results of Sunday’s local elections.

Evaluating the outcome of the local elections held on Sunday, President Ersin Tatar said that he was pleased to see that the elections had been carried out in an atmosphere of democratic maturity with no incidents or problems experienced.

Tatar expressed the hope that the newly elected mayors, mukhtars and municipal council members will work with great responsibility on meeting the needs of the public.

Congratulating all those who were elected, the president said that it was important that the municipalities achieved self-sustainability and financial discipline.

He concluded his message by stating that he will do all within the powers granted to him by the constitution to support municipalities and local administrations.
