President Ersin Tatar said on Friday that the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces was the safeguard of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ independence.

The president was speaking at a swearing-in ceremony at the Gülseren barracks for junior officers.

Pointing out that the Turkish Cypriot people waged a struggle for existence for many years; Tatar said that they were inspired by the successes and victories of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Reminding that the Turkish Resistance Organisation had been created in response to the EOKA terrorist organization, President Ersin Tatar said that the TRNC was guarded by the presence of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces.

“You have become a soldier in the Security Forces. I would like to congratulate you on this honourable meaningful day,” he said.

Touching upon the Cyprus Issue, President Ersin Tatar said that there were two separate peoples on the island and that sooner or later the world will recognize the Turkish Cypriot people.

Stating that the support provided by motherland Turkey should never be forgotten, Tatar concluded his speech by thanking the families for raising patriotic sons.
