Tatar receives former Kazakhstani MP

President Ersin Tatar received former Kazakhstani MP Dosmukhamet Nur Ahmet on Thursday.

Speaking during the visit, Tatar expressed happiness over the Kazak MPs close relations with Turkey and his views on the TRNC.

The president also expressed his desire to further expand relations with Kazakh people.

Reminding that they had been working towards improving cultural and sportive activities with Turkic countries, he pointed to the importance of establishing institutional relations between their respective countries.

Referring to the importance of potential and opportunities the TRNC carries by becoming a member of institutions such as TURKSOY, he said “hopefully we will attend some meetings in the near future.”

Stating that personal efforts were also important in the establishment of relations with Turkic countries, Tatar touched upon the contributions made to the TRNC by friends residing in Turkic countries.

The president also stressed that the Turkish Cypriot People was living in peace and security thanks to the Turkish Peace Operation and the Turkish Armed Forces.

Noting that the presence of the Turkish Peace Forces in the TRNC gave a strong message to the Greek Cypriot side, he said security was vital in achieving stability in a country.

Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people had been struggling to exist on the island of Cyprus, Tatar underlined the importance of sovereignty.

“We will not give up Turkey’s guarantee or our sovereignty” the President stressed.
