President Ersin Tatar on Thursday received the Maronite MP Yannakis Musas and Lawyer İbrahim Yapıcıoğlu.
Speaking during the visit, President Ersin Tatar said that he is pleased to live in peace and tranquility with the Maronites residing in the Koruçam area who share a common past.
He said that he would be pleased to evaluate the recommendations put forward that would ease the living conditions of Maronites living in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Yannakis Musas who represents the Maronites said that the community which has been living on the island for some time now had experienced many difficulties.
He added that currently they were residing in the Karpaşa and Koruçam villages.
He also invited President Ersin Tatar to attend the opening ceremony of the newly restored St. George Church in Koruçam village.
Lawyer Ibrahim Yapıcıoğlu for his part presented President Tatar with his 6th book titled “Leymosunlu” in which he published photos of Turkish families who lived in the Leymosun village between 1571 and 1974.
