Tatar receives members of Ukrainian community

“We share the pain and suffering of our fellow Ukrainian brothers,” said President Ersin Tatar who received on Wednesday members of the Ukrainian community here in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Representatives of the Ukranian Diaspora in the TRNC have asked President Ersin Tatar for humanitarian assistance to be sent to their country currently at war with Russia.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Larysa Yürükoğlulları expressed sorrow over the developments taking place in her country.

She said that the conflict needed to end immediately and that there were many TRNC citizens who were watching the developments with concern who wanted to see humanitarian assistance made.

President Ersin Tatar for his part said that he will do what he can in regards to the request made by the Ukrainian community.

Expressing his concern over the war in Ukraine, Tatar said that the conflict should end as soon as possible.

He also said that the TRNC will provide all the support it can to Ukrainian nationals living or working in the country.

“We as the Turkish Cypriot people have always had good relations with the Ukrainian people. I believe we shall overcome these difficult times together,” Tatar said.

The president also pointed out that the Turkish Cypriot people knew well the meaning of pain, suffering, destruction and what a struggle for existence meant.
