Tatar receives visiting CHP delegation

President Ersin Tatar said that with the support of Turkey, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will live independently and freely and will not compromise on its rights.

While receiving the visiting Republican People’s Party delegation from Turkey, Tatar emphasized that there are two equal people and states in Cyprus and reiterated that the Turkish Cypriot people will never give up on the guarantor rights or the military presence of Turkey.

Touching upon the persecution of the Turkish Cypriot’s prior to 1974, the President evaluated the developments experienced on the Cyprus problem.

Noting that the European Union is shown as a security mechanism and that Turkey’s guarantorship is being shown as outdated, Tatar said that the guarantorship of Turkey is indispensable for the Turkish Cypriot people.

Stating that Greek Cypriots have unacceptable claims in Cyprus and the Mediterranean and that they are trying to turn the balance against the Turkish Cypriots President Tatar said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has and will continue to defend its rights together with motherland Turkey.

Reiterating that there are two separate peoples in Cyprus, Tatar said that the Turkish Cypriot people’s right to self determination remains.

Deputy Chairman of the Republican People’s Party in charge of Local Administrations Seyit Torun for his part stated that they will continue to support the efforts for the removal of the unjust embargoes imposed against the Turkish Cypriot people and for the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as a state.
