President Ersin Tatar on Wednesday stated that the new politics in Cyprus have now been adopted by the people and there is no turning back from this position.

Speaking on a program broadcast on BRT, President Ersin Tatar said that the new political position on the Cyprus issue cannot be reversed and invited the Greek Cypriot side to see the realities on the island.

“Living in a fantasy world does not benefit anyone and the Greek Cypriot side is living in a fantasy world” said Tatar.

He noted that two separate sovereign and independent states will now live side by side in Cyprus and that there can be a solution through cooperation.

Stating that there are two peoples in Cyprus and that the two peoples have different expectations, Tatar said that the Turkish Cypriot people will never consent to yielding to the Greek Cypriots.

Emphasizing that the new policy is also supported by the public, President Tatar noted that they are in a position to carry the new policy until the very end.

Noting that there are two separate structures in Cyprus and that these two structures have been at different positions for 60 years, Tatar said “now we will continue on our way with our new politics and my biggest strength is that the Republic of Turkey fully supports this policy.”

Explaining that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has come a long way despite all of the embargoes and isolations experienced by the Turkish Cypriot people, Tatar said “In the last 50 years the TRNC together with motherland Turkey has a great success story.”

President Tatar also made evaluations on the Maraş opening and stated that the Maraş opening was the right move.

Stating that as the state and government they paved the way for the Immovable Property Commission with the Maraş expansion, Tatar emphasized that they are not in contradiction with international law and noted that property owners could receive their properties through the Immovable Property Commission.
