Tatlısu Lavender Days

The Tatlısu Lavender Days kicked off on Sunday.

Lavenders which were planted 3 years ago in Minia Kıbrıs in the village of Tatlısu were harvested this year.

Speaking first at the event, Tatlısu Mayor Hayri Orçan said that they were working to economically evaluate lavenders which were planted three years ago and were the symbol of happiness and peace.

“Lavenders which have an extensive usage will create a new market” Orçan said and added that with the newly purchased equipment in the region they had extracted lavender oil for the first time.

Also speaking, The Director of Lavender Karpaz Garden and lavender producer Ayşegül Bolat said that with the support of the state she was able to plant lavender in the village of Ziyamet and added that they were working towards producing lavender oil, lavender soap and their own lavender cosmetics.

Speaking on behalf of the Cittaslow municipalities, the Mehmetçik Mayor Cemil Sarıçizmeli noted that the Tatlısu village, which is a part of the Cittaslow municipalities, was preserving its own culture, nature and structure and continuing to produce and beautify the region.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu who also spoke at the event said that as the government they were doing all they could to support lavender production and to turn it into an economic value.

Minister Ataoğlu also thanked all those who contributed to the production of lavender.
