An effort to replant the forest in Kalkanlı that was destroyed in the massive fire in 2020 is continuing.

The Gymnastics Federation and Olive Tree Education and Solidarity Association (ZAYDER) in cooperation with the Forestry Department planted three thousand pine and cypress tree saplings in the area as part of a campaign titled “Fresh air for our children”

Speaking to BRT during the event, the Director of the Forestry Department Cemil Karzaoğlu thanked everyone who contributed to the reforestation of the area destroyed by the fire.

He said that efforts to replant the whole area were continuing and that they plan was to plant 200,000 saplings before the end of the year.

The head of the Gymnastics Federation Hasan Sapsızoğlu said that they took part in such an organization to raise awareness of leaving behind a sustainable environment for future generations.

The chairperson of ZAYDER Rabia Özcömert for her part said that they were happy to be taking part in such an event aimed at bringing life to the area destroyed by the fire.
