The Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre is continuing his contacts in Istanbul.
Töre who visited the Turkish Cypriot Cultural Association gave messages of unity and solidarity.
Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre came together with Cyprus war veterans during a visit he paid to the Turkish Cypriot Cultural Association in Istanbul.
Speaking there, Töre noted that there was an effort to push the Turkish Armed Forces out of Cyprus but stressed that this will never happen.
“If the Turkish soldiers withdraw from Cyprus, then the Eastern Mediterranean will become like the Aegean Sea. We will experience similar problems in the Eastern Mediterranean which we face with the 12 islands in the Aegean,” the parliamentary speaker warned.
Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people owed their freedom and independence to the martyrs and war veterans, Töre said “we do not have the right to put future generations in a position that we had to endure from 1878 until 1974.”
“We will protect the TRNC, the Turkish Armed Forces, motherland Türkiye and each other,” he said, adding that the continued existence of the TRNC was both the Turkish nation and Turkish Cypriot people’s greatest insurance for a brighter future.
Parliamentary Speaker Töre also pointed out that it was out of the question to make any compromises on the ideals of the Turkish nation and the national cause.
