Acting President and the Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre has expressed the hope for greater solidarity and unity among the Turkish states and communities.
The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Zorlu Töre on Tuesday received the Chairman of the Macedonia Turkish Movement Party Enes İbrahim and his accompanying delegation.
Speaking during the meeting held at the TRNC Parliament, İbrahim noted that they, as a Turkish minority in the Balkans, were making every effort to voice the just cause of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and were following closely the developments on the island.
Stressing that they too were waging a struggle to exist in the Balkans, he said, “We are experiencing similar problems, we have a lot in common; but we will be in further consultation in the coming period. The TRNC is always in our hearts, we were always together in good times and in bad times, and we will always be together from now on.”
The Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre for his part said that he was pleased to see Enes İbrahim and his delegation in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, highlighting the strong bond that exists between the two countries.
“We are all part of the same nation. You may have remained a minority there, but after all, you are a member of the Turkish nation. If you identify yourself in line with Atatürk’s motto, ‘How happy is the one who says I am a Turk’, it is because you believe within, that you are part of the greater Turkish nation,” Töre said.
He also stressed that the Turkish state and communities should be in greater solidarity.
