The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre on Thursday received war veterans from Kahramanmaraş who had taken part in the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation.

Noting that the struggle and efforts of the Cyprus war veterans had a great meaning for the Turkish Cypriot people, Töre said, “Our unity and solidarity will always continue.”

Welcoming the war veterans from Kahramanmaraş who took part in the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation, the Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre expressed the gratitude the Turkish Cypriot people felt to the martyrs and war veterans.

Speaking at the meeting held at the parliament, Töre reminded that the Turkish Cypriot people were preparing to celebrate the 15th of November Republic Day.

Stating that, neither the 20th July Peace Operation could have taken place nor could the TRNC have been declared had it been left to the United Nations or the European Union, he said, “That’s why we will always protect our Republic.”

Noting that the Turkish nation, throughout its history, has never accepted submission, Töre said that this was demonstrated with the 20 July Peace Operation, alongside dozens of other examples throughout history.

Töre concluded his remarks by stating that the Turkish Cypriot peoples’ and Türkiye’s unity and solidarity will always continue.
