The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Zorlu Töre has said that the Cyprus issue is not only a national cause for Turkish Cypriots but the Turkish nation as a whole.

Töre was speaking during a visit paid to him by members of the Cyprus Turkish Retired Non-Commissioned Officers Society and the Yalova Branch of the Turkish Retired Non-Commissioned Officers Society.

The TRNC Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre told the visiting retired officers that the games being played in the Eastern Mediterranean were part of imperialist and colonial designs aimed at dividing the Turkish nation.

He added that it is impossible for the Turkish Cypriot people to abandon their independence and state which they achieved through great sacrifices.

Pointing out that the EU’s and UN’s stance towards Türkiye and the Turkish Cypriot people was obvious, Töre said, “We shall be holding onto our independence with heart and soul. We shall never break our bonds with motherland Türkiye. We are united as one; we are part of the Turkish nation.”
