The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Zorlu Töre on Thursday received a delegation of Cyprus war veterans from Mardin, Türkiye.
Speaking during the visit, Parliamentary Speaker Töre informed the veterans that the TRNC has recently been admitted to the Organisation of Turkic States as an observer member.
“The TRNC will become a full member. Other countries will definitely recognize us,” he said.
Töre pointed out that the 1974 Turkish Peace Operation had prevented Cyprus from turning into a Greek island.
He said that it was out of the question for Turkish Cypriots to consent to the withdrawal of Turkish troops from the island.
Regarding a settlement in Cyprus, Töre said that a federal settlement was no longer possible in Cyprus and that the only way to go forward was a two-state policy.
