The Speaker of the Republic’s Assembly Zorlu Töre said on Sunday that peace can only be achieved without making any concessions from sovereignty, the state and independence.
Töre was speaking at a graduation ceremony at the Ankara Social Sciences University’s North Cyprus campus.
Addressing the graduates at the ceremony, the Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre pointed out that the Turkish nation, throughout its history, had left its mark on the world.
Reminding Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s slogan that the “World is larger than five”, he said that Türkiye had proven itself at every platform.
“Motherland Türkiye is the most precious thing for the Turkish Cypriot people,” Töre said.
He added that being a Turk was a source of pride no matter where they were.
Töre reminded that peace had been achieved in Cyprus thanks to the July 20, 1974 Turkish Peace Operation, adding that the Turkish Cypriot people is where it is today thanks to the sacrifices and struggle waged by the heroic Turkish troops and the freedom fighters.
