Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) becoming an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States is a beginning and hopefully the rest will follow.

He made the statement at a conference he attended at the Hacı Bayram Veli University in Türkiye.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu delivered a speech at a conference titled “Türkiye’s Entrepreneurial and Humanitarian Foreign Policy” held at Hacı Bayram Veli University.

Referring to the TRNC being granted observer membership to the Organization of Turkic States, the Turkish Foreign Minister said that what is strengthening the Turkic World is the new geopolitical reality in the region.

“The fact that the TRNC is an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States is a start; hopefully step by step further developments will follow,” said Çavuşoğlu and added that the reason for some parties worries and panic is due to what may take place in the future.

“After all, we need to increase our cooperation and solidarity with the Turkic world. The access of the Turkic world to the Eastern Mediterranean has been strengthened by the fact that the TRNC has become an observer member of the Organization of Turkic States,” said Çavuşoğlu.
