Trilateral meeting of parl. speakers held in Istanbul

Developments in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean were taken up at the second Trilateral Meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments of the Republic of Türki̇ye, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

A declaration signed after the meeting hosted by the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop expressed the support of the three countries for a just, lasting and mutually acceptable solution in Cyprus.

The Istanbul Declaration which was signed at the end of the meeting by the parliamentary speakers reaffirmed support for strengthening relations based on historic and cultural ties between their respective countries.

Reading out the declaration, the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Mustafa Şentop expressed support for a just, lasting, sustainable, realistic and mutually acceptable solution in Cyprus in line with international law.

The declaration also expressed the will to continue and expand the dialogue between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the parliaments of the three countries.
