TRNC: 95 new positive cases, S. Cyprus: new cases 230

The Health Ministry on Wednesday reported 95 new positive cases of Coronavirus following 13,840 diagnostic tests carried out in the last 24 hours.

The ministry reported that four positive cases arrived from abroad and 18 were contact cases that were under surveillance for being in close contact with other positive cases.

73 cases were locally transmitted.

20 of the cases are from the Lefkoşa District, 16 from the Girne District, 32 from the Gazimağusa District, three from the Iskele District and two from the Güzelyurt District.

While one person died from the virus 70 people have recovered and have been sent home.

230 positive cases and one death were also reported in South Cyprus on Wednesday.

Meanwhile the Chief Physician at the Emergency Hospital Erol Uçaner told BRT on Wednesday that the most important factor in the fight against Covid-19-19 was getting vaccinated, wearing face masks and social distancing.

He said that treatment of vaccinated patients was much easier, adding that even those end up in intensive care unit recovered faster.

Uçaner said the majority of those vaccinated showed mild or no symptoms, recovering without the need for hospitalization.
