Reactions by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Türkiye have been made against the European Union who has criticized the decision made by the Organisation of Turkic States to grant the TRNC observer status.
Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu has reacted to the European Union’s statement regarding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus being granted observer membership to the Organization of Turkic States.
He said that the statement is a clear indication that the EU is opposed to the Turkish Cypriot people receiving any kind of rights and interests.
Ertuğruloğlu emphasized that the European Union, which does not even have a say on its own members, has no right to reject or issue a warning regarding any statements made by Türkiye that announced the decision taken by the Organization of Turkic States.
A similar reaction was made by the Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay.
“The TRNC is an integral part of the Turkic world, it is its natural right to establish relations and mingle with friendly and brotherly Turkic states in every field” said Oktay and added that the statement made by the EU is null and void.
