Finance Minister Alişan Şan received the President of the Azerbaijan-Cyprus Friendship Society Orhan Hasanoğlu.

Speaking during the meeting, Minister Şan stressed that as the TRNC, they attached great importance to relations with Azerbaijan adding that it was necessary to take much more serious steps in order to strengthen the bond between the two countries, develop and strengthen relations in the economy, culture and educational issues, and to act in unison.

“We are three states, one nation. However, we are still at the very beginning of the road in terms of strengthening common relations. As members of the Turkish Nation, whose essence, thoughts and ideas are the same, I believe that we should enhance our relations. A great duty falls upon us and you as representatives of non-governmental organizations, in terms of building these bridges, strengthen them and improving ties” Finance Minister Şan said.

The President of the Azerbaijan Cyprus Friendship Society Orhan Hasanoğlu for his part stressed that they want to develop relations between the TRNC and Azerbaijan in every field and conveyed to Minister Şan the activities and projects being carried out by the society that will contribute to the development of the two countries.

Stating that there are 10 business people, nearly 300 students and around 240 Azerbaijani families living in the TRNC, Hasanoğlu stressed the importance of cooperation for the development of educational, cultural and forward investments.

He also added that they wanted to develop projects that will encourage TRNC business people and Azerbaijani business people to invest in various fields in both countries adding that they were working towards this end.
