TRNC granted observer status to OTS

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has been admitted to the Organisation of Turkic States as an observer member.

The decision was approved at the ongoing Summit of the Organisation of Turkic States being held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The announcement on Friday was made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who addressed the 9th Summit of the Organisation of Turkic States.

“We have fulfilled our brotherly obligations to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), approving its observer status. We have contributed to the solution process by showing our Turkish Cypriot brethren who are an indispensible part of the Turkic world that they are not alone,” he said.

Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu also announced the news via twitter.

“The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has been accepted to the Organisation of Turkic Staters as an observer member,” he tweeted.

Çavuşoğlu also reminded that they will always be by the side of the Turkish Cypriot people and the TRNC.
