Turkish Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın said that the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) accepting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as an observer member was a very important turning point.

“The Cyprus issue is an issue that concerns the whole Turkic world and the growing support of the Turkic world on the Cyprus issue carries great importance for us,” said Kalın.

Turkish Presidential Spokesman İbrahim Kalın made statements regarding the TRNC being granted observer membership to the Organization of Turkic States and the Cyprus issue at the Türkiye-Kazakhstan Education Cooperation Workshop.

Reminding that the Organization of Turkic States had accepted the TRNC as an observer member at the summit held in Samarkand, Kalın underlined that this was a very important turning point both in terms of the history of the Organization of Turkic States, the TRNC and in the recent political history of the Turkic world.

Thanking Kazakhstan for its support in accepting the TRNC as an observer member to the OTS with its full name and official title, Kalın emphasized that this represents one of the most important examples of support shown to the Cyprus cause.

“We all know how unfair and unlawful the embargoes and injustices enforced against the Turkish Cypriot people are in terms of both international law and historical facts. Our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters cannot fight alone against these injustices. Our brothers and sisters in Türkiye cannot fight alone. The Cyprus cause is the cause of the entire Turkic world,” he said.

“It is one of the most important missions of the Turkic world and the Turkic states to protect not only the Turkish Cypriots, but also to protect all Turkic nationals wherever they are around the world and to show that they are not alone” said Kalın.
