Trabzon Deputy Mayor Atilla Ataman hosted a dinner in honour of the members of the press who flew to Trabzon directly from the TRNC.

TRNC’s Trabzon Consul Erek Çağatay was also present at the dinner.

Answering questions of the press prior to the beginning of the dinner, Ataman expressed his satisfaction of the start of mutual direct flights between the TRNC and Trabzon.

“It is very valuable for us that there are direct flights to a country with which we have such strong ties with” he said.

Pointing out Trabzon is a hot spot for foreign tourists, Ataman stated that the tourists visiting the region can now visit the TRNC.

TRNC Trabzon Consul Erek Çağatay for his part noted that direct flights to Trabzon have started twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, and stated that this would have a positive impact on tourism, the economy and transportation.

He also thanked everyone who contributed to the start of direct flights between Trabzon and the TRNC.
