Turkey’s Republic Day to be marked tomorrow

The proclamation of the Republic of Turkey will be celebrated in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus tomorrow with various ceremonies.

Celebrations to mark the 98th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey will kick off today with a televised speech on BRT by the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri at 1 pm.

A 21-gun salute will also be fired to mark the occasion.

The first ceremony of the day will take place tomorrow in the capital Lefkoşa.

A number of roads will be closed on Friday afternoon as part of events marking the day.

Similar events will also take place in all the other major cities in the TRNC.

The Health Ministry announced that the celebrations are to take place in line with COVID-19 measures and for everyone participating to wear masks as well as practice social distancing.

Within the scope of the celebrations, events will also be held by various sports federations.

A bicycle tour will also be held in the fenced-off city of Maraş.
