The Minister of Interior Ziya Öztürkler said that Turkish troops are the guarantee of peace and tranquility on the Island.

The Interior Minister made the statement while he met with the Commander of the Turkish Peace Forces in Cyprus Major General Sezai Öztürk.

Speaking during the visit, Öztürkler said that he was honoured to be receiving the commander and noted that as the son of a father who served in the honorable Turkish Army, he was well aware of the respect and special place Turkish soldiers have in the hearts of Turkish Cypriots.

Reiterating that the Turkish military is the guarantee of peace and tranquility on the island, Öztürkler said that that Turkish Cypriot people are an inseperable part of the great Turkish nation.

“The love and trust the Turkish Cypriot people have for the Turkish army has continued for generations. I would like to thank Major General Sezai Öztürk for his kind visit and wish him success at his post,” said Öztürkler.
