Turkish army’s land forces celebrates 2,231st anniversary

President Ersin Tatar has issued a congratulatory message to the Land Forces of the Turkish Armed Forces which is marking its 2,231st anniversary.

In his message, Tatar said that the Turkish military’s land forces represented the nation’s military might in the face of threats and challanges.

In his written message issued on Monday, President Ersin Tatar expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the Turkish Armed Forces which is celebrating the 2,231st anniversary of the creation of its land forces.

He said that the land forces, whose foundations went back to 209 BC with the accession to the throne of the Great Khan Emperor Mete Han was a source of pride for the Turkish Cypriot people with its discipline, determination and perseverance.

Tatar highlighted the importance of the presence of the Turkish Armed Forces in Cyprus for the Turkish Cypriot people who have been waging a struggle for existence and sovereignty on the island for decades.

He added that the continuation of the presence of the Turkish Armed Forces on the island stemming from Türkiye’s rights as a guarantor power was of vital importance.

“It is of great importance to remind everyone on this occasion that the Turkish Cypriot people enjoy its independence today as a result of the peace and freedom brought to the island by the Turkish Armed Forces in 1974,” he said.

Tatar concluded his message by paying his respects to the martyrs and veterans who sacrificed their lives for the Turkish nation.
