Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay on Thursday warned the US and other countries not to play along with the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo’s games in the region.
Oktay was speaking via video conference at a symposium organised in Lefkoşa.
Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay gave clear messages on the Cyprus Issue on Thursday as he addressed the “Security, Stability and Cooperation in the Mediterranean” symposium organised by Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Centre for Middle Eastern Studies (OSRAM) held at the Ankara Social Sciences University’s North Cyprus campus in Lefkoşa.
Oktay said that Ankara will not remain silent on the armament of its neighbours, as he warned the US and other countries not to become tools in the hands of the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo.
He added that neither the TRNC nor Türkiye could be excluded from the Mediterranean and that any attempt to do so will end in failure.
Oktay gave the EastMed Pipeline Project as an example that such attempts were doomed to fail.
“The protection of the Turkish Cypriot peoples’ rights and interests, putting an end to armament and the recognition of the Libya agreement are imperative for security and stability in the region,” the Turkish vice president said.
Oktay said that Türkiye will continue to defend equitable principles and international law regarding maritime areas in the Eastern Mediterranean as well as the fair distribution of the region’s hydrocarbon reserves.
The Turkish Vice President said that Ankara will continue to protect the rights and interests of Türkiye and the TRNC.
“We shall not remain indifferent to efforts to usurp our rights in the region,” he concluded.
