Türkiye’s National Defence Ministry has also marked the National Struggle and Martyrs Week on its social media page.
A short video concerning the bloody attacks of 1963 was also posted along with the message remembering the martyrs.
The Turkish National Defence Ministry remembered the martyrs killed by Greek Cypriots on December 21, 1963, engraved in memories as “Bloody Christmas” with a message shared on social media.
The ministry also posted a short video summarizing the incidents.
It reminded that the Greek Cypriot terrorist organization EOKA began systematically attacking the Turkish Cypriots in 1958.
Over time, these attacks turned into genocide with torture and brutal murders against the Turks.
“We condemn this barbaric and brutal massacre committed against Turkish Cypriots and remember our martyrs with respect and gratitude,” the message read.
A total of 264 Turkish Cypriots had been killed in the attacks launched against Turkish Cypriots on December 21, 1963.
101 Turkish villages had also been abandoned.
