The National Unity Party (UBP)-Democrat Party (DP)-Rebirth Party (YDP) coalition government received a vote of confidence in parliament on Thursday.
Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu’s government which enjoys a majority of 29 in the 50 seat parliament received 29 votes; all of the 20 opposition MPs present at the special session voted against the motion.
One MP was absent.
The vote was preceded by 16 hours of discussions on the government programme which had ended in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
According to the Constitution and Parliament’s bylaws, a vote of confidence is held one full day after the completion of discussions on the government program.
Meanwhile, the election for the Parliamentary Bureau has been postponed to Monday. March 7.
