The National Unity Party’s Party Assembly unanimously authorized the Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu to carry out the work of forming the next government.

Speaking after Thursday’s Party Assembly meeting, the UBP leader- Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu said he will meet with President Ersin Tatar at 1.30pm today and that the path forward will become clearer after the meeting.

UBP Secretary General Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu will be accompanying the premier during the visit.

Noting that he was surprised by President Tatar’s decision to accept the government’s resignation, Sucuoğlu said, “I did not expect it.”

Touching upon news that the president may task the formation of the government to the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), Sucuoğlu said, “That may just be the case”.

“We are a government that has just resigned; it is natural for the president to follow this path. We had said that this may be an alternative. The president will decide,” said Sucuoğlu.
