Prime Minister Ünal Üstel issued a written message on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of BRTK.

In his message, Üstel stated that BRTK which is one of the most distinguished institutions of the country, had made significant contributions to the media sector from past to present, which is appreciated, and continued to make the rightful voice of Turkish Cypriots heard to the world by supporting the struggle for existence of Turkish Cypriots with its broadcasts.

He reminded the corporation had also served to keep the morale of the people high during the difficult times.

Stating that BRTK had duly fulfilled this important task it has undertaken in its broadcasting life of more than half a century, he stressed that it had managed to become the leading corporation of the TRNC’s media sector with its experience and knowledge.

The Premier also noted that BRTK, which conducts its broadcasts without making any concessions from the principles of democracy, plurality and impartiality, had also served as a pioneer with its contemporary structure, modern studios and technological equipment in line with world standards.

“The role and value of Bayrak Radio, which started broadcasting years ago with the announcement, ‘This is Bayrak Radio, the voice of Turkish Cypriot Mujahid (Freedom Fighters)’during the most painful and hopeless days will never be forgotten. I commemorate with respect and gratitude those who have devotedly served and worked for BRTK from past to present under all circumstances, and wish those who still serve in the corporation many more years and success in their work” Üstel said.
