Varol holding contacts in Ankara

Ombudswoman İlkan Varol is holding a variety of contacts in Türkiye.

Varol came together with the Turkish Chief Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç in the Turkish capital Ankara.

Ombudswoman İlkan Varol is in the Turkish capital Ankara and will be attending a symposium titled “Climate Change in the context of Human Rights and the Right to Food”.

Within the framework of her contacts Varol met with the Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye Şeref Malkoç.

Speaking before the meeting, Malkoç said that with the participation of İlkan Varol in May this year, they had established cooperation with the Turkic World Ombudsmen and in the coming days, together with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan they hoped to work together in order to be more productive.

Also pointing to the importance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus becoming an observer member to the Organisation of Turkic States in Samarkand, Malkoç said, “We hope and believe that the Turkish Cypriot State will take the place it deserves within International Law and before the United Nations”.

Ombudswoman Ilkan Varol for her part pointed to the importance of cooperation and expressed her hope that the next meeting will be held in the TRNC.

“It would be a great honour and pride for us to have our meetings, especially with the Turkic States, in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. I think it will also be beneficial for the recognition of the country” said Varol.
