President Ersin Tatar received the Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Celal Adan, Republican People’s Party Çorum Deputy, Good Party’s Bursa Deputy, Nationalists Movement Party deputy and a delegation from the Felicity Party who were in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to attend the 48th anniversary of the 20th of July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations.
The visiting guests expressed support to President Ersin Tatar’s vision towards a solution to the Cyprus problem.
President Ersin Tatar received the Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Celal Adan and his accompanying delegation.
Speaking during the visit, the president referred to the sufferings of the Turkish Cypriot people prior to 1974 and said that the Turkish Cypriot people knew how to resist because they always knew that Motherland Türkiye would always support them.
Stating that the Turkish Cypriot people would never accept a solution formula to the Cyprus problem that had zero troops and zero guarantees, Tatar said that Türkiye would never give up its power as a guarantor and stated that they would continue to work in cooperation with Türkiye for the welfare of the Turkish Cypriot people.
The Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Celal Adan for his part underlined that as the Turkish Grand National Assembly they fully support President Ersin Tatar.
Stating that the solution vision presented by President Tatar offers a realistic roadmap, Adan noted that the mentality of the Greek Cypriots that they are the sole owner of the island hinders the solution process on the island.
He also stated that the new negotiation process that will pave the way for a solution on the island can only begin with the acceptance of the sovereign equality and equal international status of the two sides.
The President also received political party leaders and representatives from Türkiye.
