Deliberations on the National Unity Party (UBP)-Democrat Party (DP) coalition government were completed yesterday.
A vote-of-confidence will be held for the new government on Saturday, a full day after the completion of discussions on the programme.
Addressing MPs during Thursday’s session, Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu said that his new government had begun working swiftly after assuming office and had accomplished a great deal in the first nine days.
Responding to criticisms on the government programme, Sucuoğlu said that his party’s goal was to win the upcoming early elections on January 23, 2022 and that the programme which was prepared was a summary of his plans for the next four to five years.
He also said that the Ad-Hoc committee tasked with amending the election law with the aim of scrapping the system of split voting had already unanimously approved the draft legislation.
The newly appointed prime minister said that there was a consensus on swiftly passing the draft legislation on Saturday and to start deliberations on the 2022 budget.
