The head of Türkiye’s Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) Prof. Dr Muhsin Kar and his accompanying delegation are holding contacts in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

As part of their contacts, the delegation was received by the Chairman of the TRNC Higher Education, Planning, Accreditation, Evaluation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK) Prof. Dr. Turgay Avcı.

They also met with the National Education Ministry’s Undersecretary Aytunç Şirket and the Director of the Higher Education and Foreign Relations Department Behçet Çelebi.

According to a written statement issued by YÖDAK, the head of the Higher Education, Planning, Accreditation, Evaluation and Coordination Council Prof. Dr. Turgay Avcı said that it would be of strategic importance to bring to life an action plan that will benefit from YÖDAK’s experiences to carry quality standards and international recognition of TRNC universities to higher levels.

Avcı and Kar also exchanged information on the process of accreditation of universities.

As part of its contacts, the YÖKAK delegation also visited the Ministry of National Education where it met with the Ministry’s Undersecretary Aytunç Şirket and the Director of the Higher Education and Foreign Relations Department Behçet Çelebi.

Views were exchanged on enhancing coordination between the respective institutions as well as further developing the quality of higher education in the TRNC.
