The final approved list of candidates running in the December 25 local elections were announced by the Supreme Election Board (YSK) on Sunday.

The supreme board also announced the winners in areas where the number of candidates is exactly the same number or fewer than the number required for the posts.

The official propaganda period also kicked off on Monday.

The countdown to the local elections set to take place on December 25 is continuing.

The draw for the order of the candidates on ballot papers and the order in which the candidates will be delivering speeches on Bayrak Radio Television Corporation (BRT) was held this afternoon at the Supreme Election Board.

The election board announced on Sunday the final approved list of candidates.

The board also announced the elected candidates in areas where the number of those running are exactly the same or fewer than the positions available.

Accordingly 12 elected mukhtars or their assistants in Lefkoşa District, 10 in Gazimağusa District, 18 in Girne District, six in Güzelyurt District, 10 in İskele District and five in Lefke District have been announced.

December 10 is the last day for publishing opinion polls and December 22 is the last day for handing out flyers and booklets.

Saturday, December 24 is the last day for election propaganda.
